Euthanasia

Providing support, guidance, and compassionate care during a difficult time.

One of the hardest decisions to make as a pet owner is deciding to euthanize your cherished companion. However, giving your pet a peaceful end of life is the greatest gift of all.

What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Euthanasia is the act of helping an animal pass away humanely using an anesthetic overdose. It is the last resort and only considered when we have concern for the pet’s quality of life and have no other reasonable options. If you feel like your pet is suffering and wonder if it’s time, our veterinarians are here to help you make an informed decision.

How is the euthanasia drug administered?

Your pet will be sedated to help them relax, and then a catheter will be placed into a vein. The euthanasia drug is injected slowly into the vein via this catheter, and within seconds, the heart stops beating and the pet gently passes away. You can be with your pet while the euthanasia is administered or choose not to be present.
